Torleif Thedéen har varit professor vid Edsbergs Musikinstitut i Stockholm (KMH) och från hösten 2017 är han professor vid Norges Musikhögskola i Oslo. Han har spelat med orkestrar som London Philhamonic och Wiener Symfoniker samt som kammarmusiker framträtt i Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall och många andra framstående konsertlokaler.
